What are the functions of steam traps?

The duty of a steam trap is to discharge condensate while not permitting the escape of live steam. No steam system is complete without that crucial component "the condensate trap" (or trap). This is the most important link in the condensate circuit because it connects the steam consumption to the condensate return.
