Question 19.. welding details of slip on flanges

Dear Werner,
as I'm not really familiar with this type of flanges would you please if possible provide more information.
For example what type of welding, how should the flange be welded on the pipe, means raised face side or neck side? (see attached file)
What's the advantage of this type of flange except the price?
Many thanks in advance for the clartification.

Question 17.. double block and bleed Valves

Dear Werner,
first of all, congratulation for the helpful and amazing website you built up!

In my position as piping designer, I'm permanently looking for general information reg. DBandB Valve (type, dimensions, weight,...)Do you have something related to this matter?
Another topic is piping and component insulation. I'm currently working on a ethylen metering skid project wich requires, due to low medium temp., high pressure rate and ambient temperature a suitable insulation. NPS 6in and 4in, pressure class 900# RTJ.

Many thanks in advance.
best regards,
Gilles Meyer / France

Answer from Werner Sölken

Hi Gilles,
In a few weeks you will find an article about double block and bleed Valves. At the moment I can not help.
On the websites of the following companies you probably will find what you need.
Cameron International Corporation on https://www.slb.com/
Brdr. Christensen ApS on http://www.bch.dk/
Alternative.. Use two Valves in series, with a short piece of pipe between them, in which a drain Valve is mounted. First gives you your double block, second gives you your bleed.

About Insulation.. I have not enough knowledge to give you an acceptable answer.

greetings Werner

PS.. in the menu Menu "Valves" you will find a link to a large picture of a DBB Plug Valve
