HDPE fittings such as elbows, tees, reducers and end caps are manufactured according to ASTM F2206 - "Standard Specification for Fabricated Fittings of Butt-Fused Polyethylene Plastic Pipe."
ASTM F2206 has very specific requirements for fabricated fittings in two areas - the type of HDPE pipe, fittings and sheet material used in the manufacture of pressure fabricated fittings; and the tests required to qualify fabricated fittings.
