The competition attracted 21,400 entries from photographers from 96 different countries.
And it was Canadian nature photographer Jacquie Matechuk who was crowned overall winner of the 2023 Nature Photographer of the Year competition (in addition to the winner of the mammal category) with her mesmerizing photo of a male spectacled bear seeking refuge in an old fig tree in the Andes Mountains.
