The fastest moving ball sport in the world is Jai-Alai, according to the Guiness World Records

What is the fastest moving ball sport?

The most talented professionals in this sport can throw the ball, or "pelota", at speeds over 187 miles per hour.

The pelota is three-quarters the size of a baseball and harder than a golf ball. It is made from Brazilian rubber with two hand sewn goatskin covers. Each ball costs about $150, as of 2015, and must be recovered after 15 minutes of play.

The game originated in the Basque area of Spain's Pyrenees Mountains more than 300 years ago and was first introduced in the United States in Miami, Florida in 1926. There are now more Jai-Alai courts in Florida than any other place in the world.
